7月10日，联合国教科文组织（UNESCO）正式宣布，中国科学院院士、中国科学技术大学教授潘建伟因“在大尺度安全量子通信和可扩展量子计算方面的开创性贡献（for his seminal contributions to large-scale secure quantum communications and scalable quantum computation）”，荣获第三届门捷列夫国际基础科学奖（the Third Edition of the Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences）。颁奖典礼将于7月17日在巴黎联合国教科文组织总部举行。
紧随其后，7月11日，IEEE光子学学会宣布，陆朝阳、潘建伟由于“在单光子源和光学量子计算领域的开创性工作（For pioneering work on single photon sources and optical quantum computing）”获得2026年度IEEE光子学学会量子电子学奖（2026 IEEE Photonics Society Quantum Electronics Award）。
